Activities for the Farm Share Family

Our Watershed Farm is more than just a pickup site for our Farm Share Program… it’s a place for our members to relax and enjoy! Open to all of our members – not just Watershed Farm pickup members – we have a range of fun farm activities every week.

For May-November of 2023, the farm will only be open: Wednesdays 4-7pm, Saturdays 9am-1pm

Pick-Your-Own

Come walk the fields and pick some crops for yourself! Pick-your-own will be open during our normal hours every Wednesday and Saturday (weather/harvest permitting). As part of your share, every member will be entitled to a certain amount of pick-your-own crops with different limits set weekly.

Crops include: Cherry/Heirloom Tomatoes, Lunchbox Sweet/Hot Peppers, Flowers, and Herbs.

Pick-Your-Own is expected to open in June or July.

Sunrise/Sunset Yoga

Unwind in the fields with Sunrise yoga on the first Saturday of every month. 1 hour classes are led by Live Lively Yoga and only cost $10.

Special classes for children with disabilities are also available at a different time. Reach out directly for more information

Sunrise Yoga (1hr): First Saturday of the month at 9am.

Community Compost

Bring your compostables to the farm and let us do the dirty work! We’ll have a community compost bin available for all of our members to deposit their organic waste. We’ll then compost it and use it to help grow healthy plants!

Watershed Institute

Our Watershed Farm is part of the larger Watershed Institute. As a community-based non-profit, they have a wide range of incredible activities. We encourage all of our members to get involved and see what the Watershed has to offer!

Walk the Trails

Surrounding our farm are more than 10 miles of hiking trails that are open from dawn to dusk throughout the year. Trails explore wetlands, forests, meadows, streams, our organic farm, and the four-acre Wargo Pond, which support the Watershed Reserve’s vibrant and diverse community of animals and plants.

Visit the Center

The central hub for the organization’s conservation, advocacy, science and education programs, the Watershed Center includes modern classrooms, exhibit halls with live animal displays and interactive exhibits, a laboratory, and computer learning center.

Weekdays: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday-Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

There is no admission fee and access is free

Tour the Butterfly House

The Kate Gorrie Butterfly House showcases native butterflies and the native plants that support them. The gardens inside simulate typical habitats of central New Jersey – field, wetland, wet meadow, field and forest. The wildflowers and shrubs inside provide nectar and shelter for butterflies and food for caterpillars.

The outdoor structure is open seasonally (mid-June to early October), free to the public from dawn to dusk. You are welcome to visit the butterfly house any day of the week.
